INFORMATION ON THE KYOTO CRAFTSMAN GUEST HOUSE.
As with all traditional Japanese homes, shoes are not worn inside the house.
There is an area just within the doorway to remove one's shoes and step up on to the wooden floor of the interior.
Bedding items are located in a closet within the guest room and are laid out at night by the guest, and likewise,
picked up and stowed by the guest in the morning. A small table and tea set are located in the room for the guest's use.
Toilet and washbasin facilities are located across the hall from the guest room.
Shower and bathtub facilities are not available, so use of one of the many public baths or hot spring establishments will be necessary (cost is only 350 yen).
Although this experience is somewhat unusual for many non-Japanese, it is an interesting adventure and something everyone visiting Japan will take pleasure from.
For many locals, it is a nightly occurrence that is not to be missed. Enjoy your stay at the Kyoto Craftsman Guest House: A truly Japanese experience!
